  • Holy Name Cathedral’s parking lot above the Chicago/State Red Line station is set to get a 1,011-foot tall skyscraper with 900 car parking spaces for the cathedral, 850 dwelling units, and commercial spaces — to be developed by JDL Development, which is currently construction medium-height towers in Uptown (Curbed)
  • To build the necessary infrastructure to separate the Brown and Red Line tracks north of the Belmont station, the CTA has to demolish buildings. Last week, the CTA and the Chicago Dept. of Planning & Development published their draft redevelopment plan (Streetsblog Chicago)
  • Cities could generate more development, and more revenue, by adopting a Land Value Tax, in place of or in addition to a property tax (Bloomberg)
  • People who live in Chicago Housing Authority buildings have a council, but the 47,000 households who have voucher-assisted housing don’t have such representation. Is the CHA stopping that? (Chicago Reader)
