New housing is on the Plan Commission agenda today

Published on May. 18, 2017 by Steven Vance

Today’s a big day for zoning, housing, and land use issues in Chicago. The Plan Commission is considering three contentious proposals:

  1. Leasing Chicago Housing Authority land to a developer who will build affordable and market rate housing, and a small Target in Rogers Park
  2. Approving the “North Branch Framework Plan” for the industrial corridor and whether it’s providing enough recreational open space
  3. Constructing a 16-story mixed-use building in Jefferson Park on a parking lot adjacent to the CTA & Metra station

There are only two other items on the agenda: to convert office space into residential units in a building in Avondale, and to increase the number of dwelling units at a proposed site in Bridgeport. Small stuff, relatively.

Follow the Department of Planning and Development on Twitter which usually live-tweets Plan Commission meetings.

Everything was approved.
