The L-Evated Chicago program is offering grants up to $20,000 each for individuals or groups to “activate” the areas within 1/2 mile of seven Chicago Transit Authority ‘L’ stations in a way that “promote[s] racial equity in connection to health outcomes, climate change resiliency, and access to arts and culture”. Read the RFP and beware that proposals are due Thursday, September 14, at 5 PM on GrantCentral.

L-Evated is part of the national SPARCC program, and is sponsored by the Chicago Community Trust and Metropolitan Planning Council, locally.
The stations are:
- 51st (Green)
- Garfield (Green)
- 63rd/Cottage Grove (Green)
- Kedzie (Green)
- Kedzie-Homan (Blue)
- Logan Square (Blue)
- California (Pink)
Examples of activation include but are not limited to: activities that increase the appeal and maximize the use of train stations and their surrounding commercial areas, parks, boulevards, vacant land and buildings, etc. (including safety, cleaning and beautification projects); informational and educational campaigns at the sites on issues connected with L-Evated Chicago’s mission; incorporation of L-Evated Chicago messages and themes within existing community-based events, such as festivals, fairs and other community gatherings and celebrations; charrettes, place-making and other place-based opportunities to improve community spaces; and artistic and cultural expressions.
Grants that involve, partner, or promote one of the organizations listed in the RFP have priority.
