New round of ChiBlockBuilder properties & applications opens

The Chicago Department of Planning & Development has opened a new round of properties in the ChiBlockBuilder program, the replacement and expansion of the former Large Lots program.

There are 106 parcels in 35 groups. New this round are marketing brochures common to commercial real estate listings — available for some of the parcel groups. Applications close Nov. 30, 2023, or Jan. 12, 2024.

Chicago Cityscape has been updated to show these 106 parcels

Here’s how to see all available CBB parcels in Chicago Cityscape.

• Access the Chicago citywide Property Finder
• Look for the ChiBlockBuilder filters
• Select the “For sale” filter
• Select the “Apply filters” button and a moment later the map and data table will refresh to show the first 25 of 106 parcels. Select “Show 25 entries” to show all parcels.

We recommend applying other filters to help you imagine and understand development potentials, including available incentives and zoning capacity.
