Some of our members have asked about the status of Property Finder this year, because it wasn’t working properly. The map helped our Cityscape Pro members dive deep into our database of over 1.8 million properties in Cook County, and filter them by zoning, size, classification, and location.
We’ve replaced PF with six new topical maps that are easier to use:
- Vacant land (this includes residential side yards)
- Chicago-owned land (using their new and more accurate database)
- Underbuilt apartment buildings (based on Chicago zoning, they could have an additional unit, like this one)
- Single-family houses in multi-family zones (houses in Chicago that could potentially be converted to apartments)
- Car repair shops & filling stations (these are ripe for conversion, as shown here, here, and here)
- Infill opportunities near CTA & Metra stations (showing parking lots, sideyards, and vacant land)

You can zoom into a specific location by clicking the magnifying glass icon and typing an address. Or, click and drag the map to move to another area. The map will automatically repopulate with properties in that view — just like the popular residential real estate listing websites.
